Unit 2, Lesson 14: Buddhism and the Wheel of Becoming
Learning Target: I can analyze symbols in artwork that explain Buddhist beliefs
Class Activities:
1. Students came in and picked up one handout: "Buddhism: Some FAQs". They got right to work on the do now, which basically was a review of the previous lesson's material.
2. We took a couple notes about Buddhism's belief in God, the afterlife, etc. See Wheel of Becoming_PP for those notes.
3. I explained that the Wheel of Becoming is a really common piece of artwork in Buddhism, and it represents a lot of the key beliefs of Buddhism. The students then worked on the back side of their handout, which breaks down the Wheel of Becoming into smaller sections for them to analyze. See the Wheel of Becoming_Materials to help you answer the questions.
