Unit 1, Lesson 2: Scale, Day 1
Learning Target: I can explain why we study Big History.
Class Activities:
1. Students picked up four handouts from the back of the room:
2. Students copied down two definitions into their vocab sheet:
3. We watched a short clip from "The Known Universe", which shows us the enormous size of the universe. Students wrote any questions, comments, etc. onto their note sheet.
4. We watched a short clip from "Cosmos", which shows us the huge scale of how old the universe is. Again, students wrote any questions, comments etc. onto their note sheet.
5. We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of small scale and large scale-- students filled that information onto the chart on the note sheet.
6. I passed out "Scale Day 1_Exit Slip" to everybody. Some people finished it in class, and some people finished it for homework.

Homework:
1. Get 3'' binder with looseleaf paper. Plastic dividers recommended but not required. Due Wednesday, September 16th.
2. Complete "Scale Day 1_Exit Slip" if you didn't finish in class.
