Unit 7, Lesson 3: Neolithic/Paleolithic Advertisement
Learning Target: I can create an advertisement that demonstrates my understanding the Neolithic and Paleolithic Eras
Class Activities:
1. Students came in & took out their hw. There was no handout.
2. We had a brief discussion about whether or not we agreed with Jared Diamond's article (from the previous lesson). Some students thought that we should've stayed hunter/gatherers, while others thought that farming had more advantages.
3. I explained the assignment:
The task is to create an advertisement for either the Paleolithic (hunting/gathering) or Neolithic (farming/domesticated animals) lifestyles. A full-credit product will show several advantages to their lifestyle, as well as acknowledge at least 1 disadvantage (kind of like a counterclaim. As I grade it, I will ask myself, "Does this ad show that the student really understands these two eras?"
Some students drew pictures with brief phrases, while others preferred to use only writing. Do not turn in just a list of pros and cons.
Papers handed in today:
Jared Diamond article and questions
Checked (but did not collect) the compare/contrast charts
Homework:
Finish advertisement
