Learning Target: I can analyze the positives and negatives of capitalism
Class Activities:
1. Students walked in; there was no handout. They took the first 15-20 minutes of class to set a price for their product, finish any details, etc.
2. Each group got 20 fake bucks to go shopping with. The winner was whoever earned the most money. Our winners in each class were:
-A tin foil pair of Beats that were solar-powered and also earmuffs.
-A pet snake
-A magical swan that did your homework
-tin foil sportswear (hats and headbands)
3. We discussed the pros and cons of capitalism. The pros were that everyone has a chance to win/make money, and that because it's competitive, it encourages innovation. The cons are that there's always a loser, and power/money can concentrate in the hands of a few.
