Unit 1, Lesson 1: Intro to Global History
Learning Target: I can explain what Big History is.
Class Activities:
1. Students picked up a syllabus and the "Intro to Global_Classwork" worksheet as they entered the room, and filled it both the front and the back immediately while I took attendance.
2. Students walked around the classroom and made random groups of three. In their groups, they discussed the following questions:
The answers they gave to those questions started out as really detailed (ate breakfast, rode the subway), and then got broader and broader (World War II, MLK assassinated, etc.). This is basically what Big History is-- zooming way out and only looking at the big picture. We won't be looking at many details in this course-- how can we, when we are trying to cover the whole history of the universe?
3. We shared our answers to the "big questions" on the backside of the "Intro to Global_Classwork" sheet.
4. We reviewed the syllabus.
Papers handed in today:
"Intro to Global_Classwork" worksheet
Homework:
1. Get 3'' binder with looseleaf paper. Plastic dividers recommended but not required. Due Monday, September 14th.
2. Complete "Intro to Global_Homework" sheet. Due Friday.

- What were the most important things that happened in the past 100 years?
