Unit 5, Lesson 8: Design a Species Research
Learning Target: I can research all the of required elements for my species
Class Activities:
1. It was a pretty self-directed lesson today. We brought in the computer cart, and students spent the period doing research for the species. Students looked up all kinds of things to help them. Examples of questions include:
What is the benefit of hooves?
How do animals use colors to communicate?
Can some animals fly and swim?
Why do all snakes have scales?
Basically, students were looking for ideas of adaptations for their animals. What makes this animal best fit for their biome?
If you're stuck, I recommend you visit this website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/adaptations. It gave me lots of good ideas and info.
Papers handed in today:
Biomes sheet
Homework:
Final species project is due Monday, January 25th.
I checked research pages at the end of class. If you were absent or I told you to research at home, make sure you show me so I give you credit.
