Unit 3, Lesson 3: Star Comic
Learning Target: I can create a comic that demonstrates my understanding of a star's life cycle.
Class Activities:
1. Students came in and picked up the "star comic" handout.
2. We had no do now. Instead, I had the students do an activity that I found on a website-- check out the youtube link below. The video looks really impressive and clear-- our version was kind of a sloppy mess, but some students understood the life cycle of a star way better in this activity, so I guess it was worth it.
3. I explained that we're moving really quickly through the star & elements unit, since all we really need to know in this class is the big idea and why it's a threshold. The comic strip is a more fun way of them expressing their understanding than a quiz or something, though, to be clear, this comic is going in as an assessment grade.
4. Students got to work on their comic strips. We'll work on them in class in the next lesson, too, and hopefully some students will be able to share theirs.
Papers handed in today:
Life Cycle of Stars HW packet
Homework:
Comic Strip (due Monday for Section 1, Tuesday for Section 3, and Wednesday for Section 2 & 4)
