Unit 5, Lesson 6: Biomes
Learning Target: I can discuss the types of adaptations that would be best fit in each biome
Class Activities:
1. The kids walked in and took out the handout, titled "Adapting to Different Biomes". They got started on the do now, which had them look at how a squirrel is adapted to live in the forest.
2. I explained that next week, for their assessment, they'll design a species and show how it adapts to the biome it lives in. But first, we'll learn about plants and animals that actually exist in some of these different biomes.
3. We went out into the hall, where I had info taped up about lots of different biomes. Students chose three biomes and took notes in their graphic organizer on how plants and animals evolved to be "best fit" for the biome. This took about 15-20 minutes.
4. We came back in and individually answered the questions on the front of the sheet, then shared with our groups, and then the whole class.
Papers handed in today:
Domestication and Evolution handout
Homework:
Finish "Biomes" worksheet (the front and back are in 2 different files below)
